Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tonying Americano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tonying Americano has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Edgar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tonying Americano!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edgar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Americano lands a big head kick that sends Edgar tumbling to the mat! Americano takes a step backwards and waves Edgar back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Edgar looks to land a right hand but Americano moved out of range.

Edgar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Americano circles away.

Americano is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Edgar.
Edgar shoots for a double leg takedown but Americano sprawls well. He's pushed Edgar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Americano lands with a kick to the temple. Edgar shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Americano stuffs the takedown attempt from Edgar. Edgar gets slowly back to his feet.
Edgar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Americano as he jumps to the side.

A head kick by Americano misses

and Edgar counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Edgar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Edgar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Edgar might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Americano keeping moving, preventing Edgar from controlling successfully.
Edgar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Americano swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Americano is pulling down on Edgar's head. It's preventing any offense from Edgar, at least for the moment.

Americano has momentary wrist control but Edgar slips an elbow through the middle.
Americano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Edgar looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Americano wants to stand and escape but Edgar is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tonying Americano dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Edgar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Americano is fending him off so far but Edgar persists. Nope, Americano circles away and we're back to standing.
Americano throws a right and a left that Edgar avoids nicely.

Frank Edgar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Americano throws a sloppy head kick and Edgar moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown by Edgar or perhaps it was just good defense by Americano which made him look bad.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Edgar wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Americano is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Edgar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Americano is looking to escape.
Americano avoids a strike by Edgar and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Edgar's guard! Fantastic escape!
Americano must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Americano is looking to stand up but Edgar won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Edgar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Americano blocking the ground and pound attempt from Edgar.
Americano is trying to control but can't.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Edgar stalling away here and it's allowed Americano to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Edgar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Edgar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Edgar throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Americano because Edgar loaded up on that one.

Americano taking shots to the head.
Edgar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Edgar lands with some strikes.
Americano tries to reverse the position but Edgar maintains control.
Americano takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Americano manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Edgar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Americano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Edgar winds up and cracks Americano with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Edgar showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Edgar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
