PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Flint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lassi Lambada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flint's entrance music is Benga & Coki - Night. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Flint!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lassi Lambada!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lambada misses with a looping right.
Lambada throws a looping overhand right but Flint ducks down to avoid it.
Flint moves out of range of the strikes.
Decent striking displayed by Lambada there.
Flint bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Flint is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Flint fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lambada throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Flint stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fight stays on the outside here - Flint looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lambada cracks a nice hook into Flint's ribs.
The fighters circling - Lambada throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Flint tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lambada throws a series of punches but Flint avoids them all with ease.
Lambada throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lambada lands a body shot.
Lambada avoids the head kick by Flint.
Lambada scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Flint throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Flint keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lambada.
Flint throws a series of punches but Lambada moves out of range.
Flint with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lambada to score with a decent uppercut.
Flint takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Lambada scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
A punch combination from Lambada misses.

Lambada throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Flint was covering up waiting for the punch and Lambada finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lambada is looking to work some ground and pound but Flint has wrist control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Lambada throws a strike but Flint rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Flint won't allow Lambada to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flint prevents Lambada from getting back to his feet.
Flint is fighting to break Lambada's control of his arms but Lambada is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Lambada wants to sweep here but Flint controlling him for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lambada can do anything to dispel that myth.
Flint has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Flint throws a leg kick but Lambada checks it.
Flint misses with a telegraphed body shot

so Lambada counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lambada connects with a couple of short punches.
Lambada postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Flint avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Flint preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Flint is breathing heavily.
Lambada trying to control but Flint is working from the bottom.
Lambada thows a big elbow that misses.
Lambada postures up in Flint's guard and throws a big left but Flint blocks it.

Lambada looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lambada with a nice head shot there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lambada throwing strikes but missing.
Lambada trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lambada postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lambada slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lambada has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Lambada breaks from Flint's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Lambada has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lambada looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Flint covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
