Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Fleiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dario Bodoque!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bodoque uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Fleiss.
Fleiss tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bodoque tries to clinch up.
Bodoque keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Bodoque gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fleiss lands a body shot.
Bodoque throws a punch but it's blocked by Fleiss.

Fleiss pulls guard.

Fleiss throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bodoque escapes and throws Fleiss's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Fleiss is looking to regain half guard here but Bodoque keeps moving and retains side control.
Fleiss is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bodoque off and has taken his back!
Fleiss looking to hold on to the position here but Bodoque rolls and ends up regaining guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bodoque can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fleiss is looking to escape.
Bodoque prevents Fleiss from getting the reversal.
Fleiss throwing hammer fists to the chest of Bodoque. What's that going to do exactly?
Fleiss keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Bodoque controlling the position easily from mount.
Fleiss is looking to get to half guard.
Bodoque really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fleiss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fleiss wants to improve his position but Bodoque is controlling well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bodoque is thwarting Fleiss's attempts to control the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Fleiss will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Fleiss swings for the body but Bodoque moves out of range.

Bodoque lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Fleiss displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bodoque throws out the jab.
Fleiss throws a lazy right hand but Bodoque sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Bodoque stuffs the takedown attempt from Fleiss. Fleiss gets slowly back to his feet.

Horrible takedown by Fleiss or perhaps it was just good defense by Bodoque which made him look bad.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bodoque throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fleiss stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Fleiss throws a right hand that Bodoque ducks under and follows up with a left that Bodoque also avoids with ease.

Bodoque has closed the distance and engaged Fleiss in a clinch.
Bodoque scores with a knee to the head.
Bodoque misses with some punches.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Fleiss.
Bodoque lands a damaging elbow.
Fleiss misses with a punch to the body.
Bodoque makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
A nice left hand lands by Bodoque.
Bodoque lands a right hand that snaps the head of Fleiss backwards.
Fleiss wants to get back to striking at distance but Bodoque won't allow it.
with the fighters clinched against the cage, Bodoque creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Bodoque looks for the body kick but Fleiss saw that one coming.
Bodoque keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Fleiss shoots for a takedown but Bodoque saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fleiss tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bodoque swivels and escapes.
Bodoque ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fleiss misses with a left hand
and Bodoque counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fleiss throws a series of strikes that have Bodoque backpedaling.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bodoque uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Fleiss.
No joy there for Fleiss, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fleiss throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fleiss misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bodoque.
Fleiss shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bodoque as he jumps to the side.
Fleiss just misses with a punch to the body.
Fleiss shoots in and drives through. Bodoque sprawls well.
Fleiss is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Fleiss's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

and Bodoque counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bodoque.
Bodoque works on Fleiss's body with a couple of short punches.

Fleiss misses with a body punch.
Fleiss is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Fleiss stalling in the clinch but Bodoque improves position.

Fleiss had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bodoque is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fleiss Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bodoque's back instead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fleiss is persistently looking for the submission but Bodoque is defending it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dario Bodoque showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Fleiss throws a push kick but Bodoque slaps the foot to one side.
Fleiss fails to land the takedown.
Fleiss looks to throw a body kick
and Bodoque counters with a stiff right hand.
Fleiss steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Bodoque. That one must have hurt.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Bodoque. Fleiss shrugs it off though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bodoque thows a body shot but no joy.
Bodoque looks to land a body kick but Fleiss moved away.
Fleiss shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bodoque but Bodoque pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fleiss shoots in and drives through. Bodoque sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Fleiss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fleiss ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bodoque moves away.
Dario Bodoque seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Bodoque connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Bodoque lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Josh Fleiss has been cut.

Fleiss looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bodoque with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fleiss lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bodoque hang on?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Bodoque is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Fleiss manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bodoque manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bodoque can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bodoque can't keep his opponent in guard - Fleiss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Fleiss with the ground and pound but Bodoque uses the opportunity to regain guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fleiss in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Dario Bodoque comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bodoque has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
