The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hizen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Leonard as he avoids it easily.
Leonard is looking to slow Hizen down with leg kicks.
Hizen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hizen wants to clinch.
Hizen wants to clinch up but Leonard keeps it at a distance.
Maxwell Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hizen lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Leonard clinches.
Leonard has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hizen regains guard immediately.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hizen has a closed guard, preventing Leonard from standing up.

Leonard seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hizen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
