Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nintendo Takada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kashihiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nintendo Takada! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kashihiro Akiyama! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akiyama displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Takada throws out the jab. Akiyama just misses with a punch to the body.
Horrible takedown by Akiyama or perhaps it was just good defense by Takada which made him look bad. A good leg kick by Akiyama. Takada throws a nice looking combination but Akiyama bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Akiyama shoots in looking for a takedown. Takada tries to sprawl out of it but Akiyama keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Takada manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Akiyama fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nintendo Takada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kashihiro Akiyama. Akiyama closes this distance looking for a takedown but Takada circles away. Akiyama shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Akiyama showed some decent athleticism there. Akiyama works his foot free and advances to mount. Takada sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Akiyama prevents Takada from standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Akiyama is looking for a kimura but Takada is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Akiyama to get the leverage. Akiyama missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Akiyama scoring with strikes to the body and head. Takada gets full guard. Takada striking off his back. Takada working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Akiyama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Akiyama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Takada manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Akiyama manages to get himself to full guard.

Takada is working Akiyama over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Akiyama is looking for a triangle but Takada pushes his legs off easily.
Akiyama looks gassed! Takada lands a couple of elbows. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Takada stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akiyama swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Takada stopping the sweep attempt from Akiyama. Takada thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Akiyama trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Takada won't allow Akiyama to sweep him here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Horrible takedown by Akiyama or perhaps it was just good defense by Takada which made him look bad. Akiyama has a takedown stuffed. Takada throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Akiyama tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Takada swivels and escapes. Takada ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Takada connects with a crisp jab. Akiyama shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Akiyama throwing shots but Takada is blocking nicely. Akiyama is nestled in close to Takada, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Akiyama has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Akiyama looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Takada is trying to escape the mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takada taking shots to the head. Akiyama fails to move to back control. Takada is working to get back to half guard.

Akiyama jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Takada manages to avoid the submission attempt. Akiyama tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Akiyama has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Takada manages to work his way to half guard, despite Akiyama's best efforts.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Akiyama shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takada pinned against the cage. Takada gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Takada misses with a looping right. Takada looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Takada lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Takada looking to pass the guard. Akiyama thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Takada stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akiyama swivels though and keeps the full guard. Takada has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Takada passes Akiyama's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nice strikes from Takada there. Takada is nestled in close to Akiyama, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Takada is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Akiyama has managed to free his arm - good work. Takada lands strikes from half guard. Akiyama on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Takada seems to be looking for submissions.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Takada gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Akiyama must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Akiyama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takada swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Akiyama keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Takada's head. Akiyama slips nicely into half guard. Akiyama looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Takada wants to get back to full guard. Akiyama takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Takada looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Akiyama is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Takada gets full guard. Takada throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Takada is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Takada works his way into side control. Takada looks up at the clock and then as Akiyama takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Takada smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Takada working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Akiyama sneaks back into half guard. Takada looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Akiyama with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Takada lands with a punch from half guard. Takada winds up and cracks Akiyama with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takada connects with a nice short shot to Akiyama's temple. Takada frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Takada working Akiyama over with strikes here.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Takada! Akiyama is hurt baaadly! Takada is firing away with more strikes - Akiyama is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
