PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hoo Dung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroyuki Tokoro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tokoro has chosen battle cry as his entrance music. The key to victory for Hoo Dung has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hoo Dung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroyuki Tokoro!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tokoro shoots in but Dung avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Dung fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tokoro, pushing him back against the ropes.
Dung can't break the clinch.
Dung wants to get back to striking at distance but Tokoro won't allow it.

Tokoro tightens his grip and picks Dung up, before dumping him to the ground. Dung manages to land in guard.

Dung wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Tokoro manages to pass to side control.
Tokoro is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dung has closed the distance and engaged Tokoro in a clinch.

Dung tries to break the clinch but Tokoro is controlling the position.

Dung breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dung looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Tokoro counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dung won't be happy with that.
Dung is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Tokoro has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Tokoro decides to stand back up. Tokoro steps back and let's Dung get back to his feet.
Dung throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Tokoro circles away from the clinch attempt

and Tokoro counters with a shoot takedown. Dung fights it but they end up in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tokoro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

It looks like Hoo Dung has been cut.

Dung defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tokoro.
Tokoro landing strikes from the mount.

Tokoro is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dung can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tokoro throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Dung because Tokoro loaded up on that one.

Tokoro goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dung is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tokoro holds on and takes a little breather.

Tokoro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dung can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
