Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Rizzo! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Rizzo has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though. Rizzo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alves is one step ahead there. Rizzo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Alves has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rizzo is proving hard to escape from. Alves got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rizzo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alves has managed to get both his arms back between Rizzo's legs - danger averted. Rizzo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rizzo has a closed guard, preventing Alves from standing up. Rizzo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rizzo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alves showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Rizzo working for a triangle but Alves defends it easily.
Rizzo looks gassed! Alves controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Rizzo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Alves stands and steps away. Rizzo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves scores with a takedown into Rizzo's guard. Rizzo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Alves is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rizzo. Alves stands up. Alves is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rizzo's half guard. Alves with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Rizzo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Rizzo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alves pulls his head out easily. Rizzo actively working from the bottom here. Alves is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Alves stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Alves stalks Rizzo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rizzo's face. Rizzo staggers backwards, shaken. Alves shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rizzo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Rizzo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alves wants to pass the guard but Rizzo is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Victor Alves dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rizzo has his takedown stuffed and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rizzo's guard. Rizzo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Alves pushing down on Rizzo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Alves is figuring out what he wants to do next. Alves is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Rizzo is breathing heavily. Alves controlling the action here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alves connects with a nice short shot to Rizzo's temple.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rizzo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alves. Rizzo is looking to get back to full guard here but Alves has managed to pass to side control instead. Rizzo slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Alves decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Alves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alves lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rizzo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Alves stacks Rizzo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Alves! Rizzo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Alves decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rizzo to his feet. Victor Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rizzo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rizzo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alves defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rizzo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rizzo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alves's head. Rizzo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alves is just riding it out for now. Rizzo eventually gives up the hold. Alves keeping control of the position. Victor Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Alves wants to get back to full guard. Rizzo is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
Rizzo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Victor Alves dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Alves shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rizzo defends it nicely. Rizzo fails with the takedown and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rizzo's guard. Alves wants to stand but Rizzo has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Rizzo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rizzo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Alves is now in Rizzo's guard. A big mistake from Rizzo there, giving up the dominant position!
That's one minute gone in the round. Rizzo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Alves defends it easily. Rizzo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alves defends well. Alves is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Alves avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Alves with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Victor Alves is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rizzo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Alves has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rizzo doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Victor Alves. Rizzo shoots and misses and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rizzo's guard. Alves controls from within his opponent's guard. Alves decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rizzo, up you get! Rizzo shoots and misses and Alves counters with a shoot takedown. Rizzo fights it but they end up in guard. Victor Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luis Rizzo. Alves trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rizzo's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alves is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Rizzo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alves sitting in guard here, content to control. Rizzo tries to strike from the bottom.
Luis Rizzo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight! Victor Alves showed his dominance in that final round. Well Alves has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
