Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Happy DuVall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clyde Dimitri! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dimitri lands a jab to the nose. DuVall closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. DuVall content to control rather than advance. DuVall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dimitri keeps working. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Dimitri controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. DuVall keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round.
We're going to have a standup here because Happy DuVall wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. DuVall throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Nice takedown defense from DuVall. No joy for Dimitri on that attempt. Dimitri displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from DuVall. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Dimitri. Dimitri moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Dimitri tries to clinch but DuVall is having none of it. Dimitri lands a nice leg kick that just misses DuVall's sensitive parts. Dimitri closes this distance looking for a takedown but DuVall circles away. Dimitri scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. DuVall is breathing heavily. Dimitri closes the distance and lands a one-two. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A kick lands to the mid section there for Dimitri. Dimitri sends DuVall crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Dimitri is motioning to the referee to let DuVall up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
DuVall is rocked! Dimitri clinches up against the cage. Oh DuVall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dimitri is trying to work for a single leg takedown but DuVall pulls him back up using the underhooks. Happy DuVall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clyde Dimitri. Dimitri tries to score a body lock takedown but DuVall shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Stalling in the clinch from Dimitri.
Dimitri escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dimitri connects with a leg kick. DuVall looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. DuVall seems to have got his legs back now. Dimitri cracks DuVall on the jaw with a powerful right hand and DuVall falls backwards against the cage. Dimitri follows up with more strikes that drop DuVall to his knees. Dimitri keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save DuVall! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clyde Dimitri!
