0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jason Palec! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fredin shoots in and bounces Palec off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Fredin pushing down on Palec's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Palec is trying to stand.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Fredin is keen to just control but Palec is a slippery customer. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Fredin trying to mount his opponent but Palec defends it. Fredin prevents Palec from standing back up.

Palec looks gassed! Fredin trying to mount his opponent but Palec defends it. Fredin is taking a breather. Palec says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Fredin stops Palec from getting back to his feet.
Fredin is trying to control the action in half guard but Palec is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Fredin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Palec with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Palec is staying active underneath Fredin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Fredin is trying to work for a kimura but Palec is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Palec is looking to clinch. Palec tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Palec changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fredin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Palec throws Fredin to one side and escapes! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
