The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie JR changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. The Priest tries to avoid it but Gracie JR manages to keep hold of a leg and drag The Priest to the ground. The Priest escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The Priest tries to sprawl but Gracie JR drives through with a takedown into half guard. Gracie JR missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The Priest tries to get to full guard but Gracie JR has control of the leg. Gracie JR is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, The Priest manages to get to full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gracie JR accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gracie JR working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of The Priest's head. Gracie JR with a flurry of punches that miss. Gracie JR working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Gracie JR postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie JR is looking to work some ground and pound but The Priest has wrist control. Gracie JR tries to stand but The Priest is controlling from the bottom. Gracie JR makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The Priest can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie JR advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The Priest is breathing heavily. Gracie JR seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie JR looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks The Priest with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gracie JR working the head and body with strikes. Gracie JR landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Gracie JR is working for a kimura but The Priest is defending it quite comfortably.
Gracie JR throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The Priest is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gracie JR scores with a couple of nice shots. Gracie JR slips a nice elbow through The Priest's hands, connecting with The Priest's forehead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie JR has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can The Priest defend it? Gracie JR steps over the head and cranks it - The Priest is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gracie JR!
