With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Benoit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mogul Khan!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benoit connects with a looping right hand.
Khan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Khan avoids the body shot from Benoit.
Benoit thows a body shot but no joy.
Benoit keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Khan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Benoit.

Khan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The fighters circle momentarily. Benoit darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Benoit connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Khan is trying to control. Benoit wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Khan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Benoit throws out a loose jab but Khan uses good head movement to avoid it.

Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Benoit paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Khan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Benoit throws a looping overhand right but Khan ducks down to avoid it.

Benoit throws an overhand right that lands on Khan's shoulder, as Khan tries to avoid the shot.
Khan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A looping hook to the body misses from Benoit. Khan does a little dance to reset his feet.

Benoit stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Benoit wants it to stay on the feet.

Khan shoots for a takedown but Benoit saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A slow jab from Benoit misses its intended target.

Benoit drops Khan with a left right combo! Benoit follows him down to the ground into side control.


Khan is rocked!

Benoit decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Khan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Khan closes the distance and clinches up with Benoit, looking for a takedown. Khan pushes Benoit against the cage but Benoit circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Khan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Benoit pinned against the cage. Benoit gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Khan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Benoit waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Khan.
Khan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Khan there as he acknowledges the shot.

Benoit drops Khan with a nice combination! Benoit dives into Khan's guard, looking to finish!
Khan is still in real trouble! Can Benoit finish him?
Khan is looking to sweep but instead, Benoit has passed into half guard.
Khan seems to have recovered his senses.
Benoit is controlling the pace.
Khan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Benoit is working away from the top position though.

Benoit passes to side control.
Khan is trying to improve his position.
Khan is letting Benoit control him for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benoit lands a jab to Khan's midsection.
Benoit fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
The crowd cheers as Benoit lands an impressive looking overhand right. Khan doesn't seem phased though.
Benoit connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Benoit throws a body punch but Khan moves out of range.
Benoit throws a hook but Khan blocks it.
Benoit missing with a left hand there. Khan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mogul Khan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Benoit misses with a looping right.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Khan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Benoit avoids it really well and circles away.
Khan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Benoit circles away.
Mogul Khan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Khan swings away with a body shot that misses
letting Benoit counter with a right hand.
Benoit takes a swing at Khan's ribcage but misses.
Benoit is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khan can do to turn this around?
Khan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Benoit counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Khan throws a lazy body kick
and Benoit counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Benoit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Benoit bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Khan! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Benoit has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
