Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Black Betty. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ron John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick James!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
John misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
James looks to score with a jab to the body but John is just out of range.
John listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James misses with an uppercut. John saw that one coming.
James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting John counter with a right hand.
James throws a big shot that misses.
John connects with a looping right hand.
John throws a combination that misses
and James counters with a stiff right hand.
James slaps away a takedown attempt from John, before circling back to the center of the mat.
John connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
James has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from John finds it's way round the side to connect with James's head.
A clash of legs there as John blocks the low kick.
John looks for a takedown but James sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron John. That's going to take a lot out of him.

John pushes James up against the cage in a clinch.

John gets control of James's arms and successfully pulls guard. John will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James stopping the sweep attempt from John.
John trying to keep a closed guard but James is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James passes John's left leg - he's now in half guard.
John is not content to let James control the position.

John looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
James thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James wants to pass to mount but John is defending the position.
John is trying to control but can't.
James takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
John pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.
James wants to control but John is keeping him busy.
John manages to get to full guard.
James is looking to work some ground and pound but John has wrist control.
John not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
John manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. James manages to get himself to full guard.
John throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as James works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
John working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
John controls from within his opponent's guard.
James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
John throwing strikes from guard but James blocks nicely.
John trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James looks gassed!
John is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Ron John wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
John with a hook.
John shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.
James takes one to the side of the head.
James throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A decent looking cross lands there for John.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
John takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
James misses the jab.
John with a poor takedown
and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
John waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract James.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron John dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


James looks to land a left hand but John moved out of range nicely.
James fails to land with a series of punches.
John rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
John uses good head movement to avoid the hook from James.
James throws a combination that misses
and John counters with a three punch combo that has James backing up. James nods at John to acknowledge the strikes.
John keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


James is rocked!
James is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. John doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! James crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in James's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ron John!
