Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Kirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Poe Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Kirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edgar Poe Wong!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirk throws a chopping leg kick but Wong manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kirk throws a low kick but Wong avoids it.
Kirk throws a low kick but Wong moves out of range easily.
Wong lands a really nice looking cross but Kirk seems unphased.
Kirk catches Wong with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kirk misses with a low kick as Wong jumps back.
Kirk stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kirk wants it to stay on the feet.

Kirk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kirk lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Kirk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kirk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Wong takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kirk cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Wong is rocked!
Kirk is landing with some decent strikes but Wong is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Wong seems to have recovered his senses.
Wong is trying to escape the mount.
Kirk postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wong looks a forlorn figure.

Kirk lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The referee warns Wong that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kirk is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wong can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Kirk dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wong blocks a leg kick.
Kirk tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kirk does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kirk lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wong has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wong and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Kirk throws a leg kick which misses Wong's front leg but catches the back leg as Wong tries to avoid it.

Wong on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Kirk is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wong can do to turn this around?

Kirk moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

and Kirk counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wong!

Kirk lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Kirk lands a big shot there that rocks Wong but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Kirk loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Wong scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Kirk land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Kirk stands and salutes the crowd.
