The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Van Der Dick closes the distance and pushes Potter back into the cage.
Potter wants to get back to striking at distance but Van Der Dick won't allow it.
Van Der Dick changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Potter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Potter pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Van Der Dick bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Potter is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Potter wants to control but Van Der Dick postures up.
Potter is trying to improve his position.
Potter struggling a bit here.

Van Der Dick decides to stand back up. Van Der Dick steps back and let's Potter get back to his feet.
Van Der Dick takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Potter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Van Der Dick tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Potter is in Van Der Dick's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Van Der Dick tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Potter stands and steps away. Van Der Dick gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Van Der Dick moves into range and clinches up with Potter.
Potter jumps guard but Van Der Dick stands there with Potter around his waist. Potter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Potter looks gassed!

Van Der Dick pulls guard successfully.
Van Der Dick wants to sweep here but Potter controlling him for the moment.

Van Der Dick is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Potter frees his head nicely. Oh but Van Der Dick has switched to an armbar! Potter is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
