Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between manny makunouchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Strife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). makunouchi comes into the arena with sandstorm blaring out of the sound system. manny makunouchi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
makunouchi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Strife moves into the clinch successfully.
Strife looking to throw knees to the head but makunouchi is blocking nicely.
Strife lands on the inside with an uppercut.
makunouchi drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

makunouchi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Strife walks away with a smile on his face. makunouchi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Strife moves in looking to clinch but makunouchi pushes him off.
makunouchi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Strife buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
makunouchi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Strife as he jumps to the side.
Strife throws a body punch but makunouchi moves out of range.

Strife throws an overhand right that lands on makunouchi's shoulder, as makunouchi tries to avoid the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown by makunouchi or perhaps it was just good defense by Strife which made him look bad.

and Strife counters with a body kick.
makunouchi is breathing heavily.
Strife drives through and clinches with makunouchi against the cage.

Strife using the Thai plumb to throw knees but makunouchi has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

makunouchi tries to keep at a distance but Strife has taken the fight into the clinch.

makunouchi shoots in for a takedown but Strife shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Strife throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by makunouchi.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for makunouchi. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Strife connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between makunouchi's hands.

A short body shot lands from Strife as the two fighters clinch.

Strife swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by makunouchi.
Strife closes the distance and pushes makunouchi back into the cage.
Strife lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

It looks like manny makunouchi has been cut.

Strife fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Oh makunouchi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Strife has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Strife catches makunouchi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Strife throws a quick head kick that skims the top of makunouchi's head.

makunouchi gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Strife gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! makunouchi is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
