Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jinn Hatame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Mercury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatame comes into the arena with Invincible blaring out of the sound system. Mercury has chosen you got another thing comin' as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jinn Hatame has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jinn Hatame! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Mercury! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good work by Hatame as he checks the leg kick. Jinn Hatame seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mercury shoots in for a double leg but Hatame sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Mercury drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Mercury wants to stand but Hatame is controlling his posture from full guard. Hatame is trying to keep Mercury in close.
Hatame is looking for a triangle but Mercury pushes his legs off easily.
Mercury trying to control but Hatame is working from the bottom. Mercury looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hatame gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mercury counters by clinching up. Hatame is breathing heavily. Mercury changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hatame fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hatame gets caught flat footed, as Mercury shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Hatame trying to control the position.
Mercury postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hatame is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mercury, into his guard. Hatame trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mercury manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hatame manages to get himself to full guard.
Mercury passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hatame wants to improve his position but Mercury is controlling well.
Hatame is trying to maintain the position but Mercury is very close to passing his half guard. Hatame wants to get back to full guard. Mercury sitting and controlling from the half guard. Hatame wants to get back to full guard. Mercury is looking for a kimura but Hatame is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mercury to get the leverage.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hatame shoots and misses and Mercury counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Mercury prevents Hatame from improving his position. Mercury landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercury moves into full mount! Hatame won't be happy about that! Mercury is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hatame can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hatame sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Mercury looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mercury is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hatame is just riding it out for now. Mercury eventually gives up the hold.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mercury is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mercury trying to mount his opponent but Hatame defends it. Mercury is thwarting Hatame's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mercury is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Hatame still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Hatame has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Mercury wants to control but Hatame postures up. Mercury taking punishment in the form of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Mercury dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Hatame darts in trying to clinch and Mercury counters with a nice double leg into guard. Mercury is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Mercury trying to control but Hatame is working from the bottom. Mercury is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mercury trying to control but Hatame is working from the bottom. Hatame manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hatame swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mercury is now in Hatame's guard. A big mistake from Hatame there, giving up the dominant position! Mercury thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mercury is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hatame throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Mercury trying to move into half guard but instead Hatame has managed to sweep! Hatame trying to control the position from guard on top but Mercury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hatame thows a big elbow that misses. Mercury looking for a sweep. Not yet Mercury, not yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hatame closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hatame lands in his opponent's guard. Mercury looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hatame has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mercury to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hatame is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mercury pulls down on the head and he's put Hatame to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mark Mercury!
