PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gaeten Heneco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oli Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heneco closes the distance and clinches up with Cole, looking for a takedown. Heneco pushes Cole against the cage but Cole circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Heneco checks a leg kick nicely.
Heneco tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cole takes a swing at Heneco's ribcage but misses.
Cole tries to clinch up but Heneco circles away and keeps his distance.
Heneco closes the distance and clinches up with Cole, looking for a takedown. Heneco pushes Cole against the cage but Cole circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cole defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Heneco.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gaeten Heneco. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Heneco gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Heneco throws his legs up looking for a submission but Cole uses it to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cole remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Cole tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cole has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Heneco is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Cole remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Heneco tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cole wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Cole decides to stand back up. Cole steps back and let's Heneco get back to his feet.

Heneco is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Heneco really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Heneco fails in his attempt to clinch.

Cole scores with a takedown into Heneco's guard.
Cole passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Heneco is breathing heavily.
Cole working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Heneco is looking for a sweep.

Cole is working to tighten is grip on Heneco's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Heneco has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cole is really squeezing tight and eventually Heneco passes out! Cole breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
