5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Devon Randlecan! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Randlecan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chavez defends it nicely. Chavez gets a takedown into half guard. Randlecan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chavez is looking for a triangle here but Randlecan uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Chavez takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Randlecan scores with a couple of short elbows. Chavez prevents Randlecan from moving into mount. Randlecan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Chavez to see if he's OK. Chavez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Randlecan. A close round but Devon Randlecan will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Chavez thows a body shot but no joy. Chavez stuffs the takedown attempt from Randlecan. Randlecan gets slowly back to his feet. Juan Chavez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devon Randlecan. Randlecan with a lazy takedown attempt and Chavez counters with a stiff right hand. No luck with that takedown attempt from Randlecan. Chavez throws a jab when Randlecan was well out of range. Randlecan is breathing heavily. A slapping leg kick lands for Chavez.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Randlecan shoots and misses and Chavez counters with a stiff right hand. Chavez thuds a left hand into Randlecan's body. Sloppy strikes from Chavez. Those never looked like landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Randlecan tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Chavez tries to score with a low kick but Randlecan moves his leg out of the way. Chavez lunges at Randlecan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Randlecan's hand. Chavez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Chavez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Randlecan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chavez has Randlecan in his guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Randlecan tries to roll over but Chavez keeps him under control.

Randlecan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chavez. Chavez with a body punch. A glancing blow. Chavez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Randlecan.
