The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kotipelto bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Galvao is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kotipelto is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Kotipelto looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kotipelto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Galvao can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kotipelto jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Galvao manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kotipelto is trying to get an arm triangle but Galvao is defending well.
Galvao tries to buck Kotipelto off but Kotipelto is having none of it.
Kotipelto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Galvao is not content to let Kotipelto control the position.
