Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Derrick Grey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Patrick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz misses with a two punch combination.
Diaz throws a big shot that misses. Diaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Diaz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Grey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Diaz shoots in but Grey avoids the takedown attempt easily. Diaz takes a body punch but keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grey shoots in and drives through. Diaz sprawls well. Diaz is not content to let Grey control the position. Diaz takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Grey misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
