Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Skjelbred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eirik Sverd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Skjelbred! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eirik Sverd! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sverd fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Skjelbred checks it well. A head kick misses from Sverd. A head kick misses from Sverd. Sverd fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Skjelbred manages to avoid it. Sverd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Skjelbred manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sverd manages to get himself to full guard.
Skjelbred tries to stand but Sverd is controlling from the bottom. Skjelbred won't allow Sverd to sweep him here. Sverd throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Skjelbred has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sverd had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Skjelbred is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sverd Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Skjelbred's back instead. Skjelbred trying to control the position but Sverd manages to sink in the hooks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sverd is looking for the choke from the back position but Skjelbred is controlling his hands well. Skjelbred is keeping busy.

Sverd looks gassed! Sverd is looking for a choke. Skjelbred gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Skjelbred manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Skjelbred controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Skjelbred stands up from guard. Let's bang! Skjelbred tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sverd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Skjelbred's waist but Skjelbred gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sverd off to one side. Skjelbred wants to clinch up but Sverd keeps it at a distance. Skjelbred moves into the clinch. Sverd fails to pull guard.
Skjelbred lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Skjelbred lands a nice elbow. Sverd takes an elbow to the forehead. Skjelbred unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sverd lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Skjelbred throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sverd blocks it with crossed arms. Nice elbow from Skjelbred. Skjelbred will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sverd up against the cage. Skjelbred with a knee to the head.

Skjelbred escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sverd. John Skjelbred has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eirik Sverd. Skjelbred is looking to clinch. Sverd fails with the takedown. Sverd fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skjelbred tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sverd swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sverd finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Sverd fails with the takedown. Sverd feints and then cracks Skjelbred's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Skjelbred down. Sverd fails with a takedown attempt. Horrible takedown by Sverd or perhaps it was just good defense by Skjelbred which made him look bad. Sverd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Skjelbred moves away. Sverd misses with a series of wild punches.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sverd, right into the meat.
Skjelbred tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sverd swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sverd shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Skjelbred as he avoids it easily. Sverd misses with a low kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. An inside leg kick from Sverd misses. Skjelbred tries to clinch there but Sverd circles away.
Eirik Sverd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Skjelbred blocks the body kick.
Sverd shoots in but Skjelbred avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sverd shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Skjelbred's guard. Sverd trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Skjelbred trying to keep a closed guard but Sverd is proving a slippery customer.
Sverd looking to sit in guard and control but Skjelbred gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sverd keeping busy on the bottom but Skjelbred has passed one foot through into half guard.
Skjelbred trying to control the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Skjelbred will probably get the nod. That's time! Skjelbred's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Sverd throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Skjelbred moves out of range of the body kick. Skjelbred is looking to slow Sverd down with leg kicks. Sverd tries for a takedown but Skjelbred sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Skjelbred avoids the body shot from Sverd.
Sverd throws a chopping leg kick but Skjelbred manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Skjelbred on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Sverd. Sverd obviously looking to wear him down.
Skjelbred misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sverd.
Skjelbred throws a head kick that half lands.
Sverd is rocked! Horrible takedown by Sverd or perhaps it was just good defense by Skjelbred which made him look bad. Sverd is still on wobbly legs! Can Skjelbred finish him? John Skjelbred is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Skjelbred gets a clinch. Skjelbred misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sverd.

Sverd seems to have recovered his senses. Nice takedown defense from Skjelbred. No joy for Sverd on that attempt. John Skjelbred has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eirik Sverd. Sverd throws a leg kick that is checked and Skjelbred counters with an inside leg kick. Sverd is breathing heavily. Skjelbred rushes Sverd and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Skjelbred lands an uppercut. Sverd looking for a takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. The is referee keeping an eye on Skjelbred - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sverd is looking to break free of the clinch but Skjelbred has double underhooks. Skjelbred throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sverd blocks it with crossed arms. Sverd can't break the clinch.
Sverd jumps guard and drags Skjelbred to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Sverd looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Skjelbred has picked Sverd up and slammed him! Sverd can't keep hold of the triangle and Skjelbred manages to pass to side control! Sverd is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Skjelbred is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Skjelbred content just to control the position here. Sverd bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Sverd looking to sit in guard and control but Skjelbred gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sverd isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Skjelbred stacks Sverd on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Skjelbred!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sverd tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Sverd working to try and regain half guard.
Skjelbred controlling the position easily from mount. Skjelbred can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sverd is looking to escape. Sverd looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skjelbred trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Sverd doesn't escape. Skjelbred keeps control of the position as Sverd tries to break free.
Skjelbred is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Sverd has hold of Skjelbred's leg, trying to break free but it's let Skjelbred lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Sverd is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Skjelbred throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
