Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drexler Batna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batna misses with a kick to the body.

Evans bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Batna looks to land a right hand but Evans moved out of range. A nice leg kick lands there from Batna. Evans shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Evans showed some decent athleticism there. Evans is looking to take a break and control but Batna is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Evans is controlling the pace.
Evans is looking to advance position but Batna won't allow it. Evans should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Batna ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Evans moves away. Evans shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Batna is trying to defend but Evans finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Evans controlling the action here. Evans seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Batna does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Evans feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Evans has gone for a leg lock! Batna slips out almost immediately though and dives into Evans's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Evans looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Batna passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans is staying active underneath Batna, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Batna is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Evans! Batna trying to control but he's not successful this time. Evans tries to hold on but Batna postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans tries to get back to half guard but can't. Batna can't control as he wanted to and Evans manages to get the fight back to his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Batna is working away from the top position though. Batna is just content to waste time from the top position. Evans takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Batna is really struggling to control Evans but he's trying to hold on to the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evans can do anything to dispel that myth. Evans is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Batna is trying to escape the position but Evans is controlling the position. The ground and pound from Evans seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Evans controlling the position. Evans stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans checks a low kick from Batna. Batna swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Drexler Batna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Batna fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Evans checks it well. Evans looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Evans wants to pass the guard but Batna is keeping the position. Evans takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Batna has his hands on Evans's head, controlling the position. Evans pushing down on Batna's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Evans is working for a kimura but Batna is defending it quite comfortably.

And that's the end of the fight! Rashad Evans comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Evans has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
