Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renato Murakami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Cavalcante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Murakami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Cavalcante!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cavalcante tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Murakami paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Murakami has Cavalcante pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Murakami pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cavalcante tumbling to the mat - Murakami dives into Cavalcante's guard.
Murakami passes Cavalcante's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Murakami wants to control but Cavalcante is keeping him busy.
Murakami winds up and cracks Cavalcante with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Murakami seems to be working for a kimura but Cavalcante defends the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Murakami wants to pass the guard but Cavalcante is defending well.

Murakami is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cavalcante defends it well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Murakami closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Murakami lands in his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cavalcante gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cavalcante using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Murakami has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Murakami tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cavalcante just stands there and leans against the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cavalcante takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Murakami is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Murakami is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Murakami ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Murakami no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

A close second round but Renato Cavalcante will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Murakami closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Murakami goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cavalcante has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Murakami but great work by Cavalcante.

Cavalcante stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Cavalcante takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee warns Cavalcante that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Murakami is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cavalcante can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Murakami goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cavalcante is on top in guard.

Murakami working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cavalcante doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Murakami is tightening it up a little... Cavalcante has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Cavalcante reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Cavalcante taps out! nice BJJ there by Murakami!
