PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Knox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Tupper IV (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knox's entrance music is Cinderella Man - Eminem. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Knox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Tupper IV!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tupper IV with a lazy takedown attempt
and Knox counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tupper IV avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Knox just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knox gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Tupper IV counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tupper IV looking to sit in guard and control but Knox gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Tupper IV looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Tupper IV escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Knox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Knox stands and steps away. Tupper IV gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Knox throws a left and a right that both miss

and Tupper IV counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Knox's guard now.

Knox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Knox keeping moving, preventing Tupper IV from controlling successfully.
Tupper IV throwing strikes from guard but Knox blocks nicely.
Tupper IV pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Knox is keeping the position for now.
Tupper IV wants to stand but Knox is controlling his posture from full guard.
Knox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tupper IV on the ground.
Tupper IV wants to control from the top but Knox keeps moving.

Knox wants to sweep but no luck.
Tupper IV pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Knox is keeping the position for now.

Tupper IV has gone for a leg lock! Knox slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tupper IV's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tupper IV is trying to control the position but Knox postures up.

Tupper IV has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Knox is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tupper IV.

Knox stands up and beckons Tupper IV to his feet.

and Knox connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Knox misses with a hook.

and Knox counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Ben Knox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Tupper IV.

Ben Knox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Knox throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Knox throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It looks like Bobby Tupper IV has been cut.
Knox throws a hook but Tupper IV avoids it easily.
Tupper IV takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Knox looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Knox cracks Tupper IV with a good jab.
Knox bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Tupper IV's head.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Tupper IV counters with a nice double leg into side control. Knox won't be happy with that.

Tupper IV misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Tupper IV is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Knox has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knox is looking to regain half guard here but Tupper IV keeps moving and retains side control.

Tupper IV wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Knox, who protects the arm well.
Tupper IV takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Knox can't do much from the bottom here.

Tupper IV looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Knox tries to buck Tupper IV off but Tupper IV is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tupper IV fails to land a wild elbow strike.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

Tupper IV swings around for an armbar but Knox sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tupper IV's guard.
Tupper IV is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Knox stands and steps away. Tupper IV gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Knox throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tupper IV counters with a nice double leg into side control. Knox won't be happy with that.
Knox manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bobby Tupper IV comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tupper IV has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
