3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Jim! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jim throws a right and a left that Kamazs avoids nicely. Jim throws a right and a left that both miss. Jim looks to land a combination but Kamazs avoids it well. Jim connects with the punch. Jim tries to sprawl but Kamazs drives through with a takedown into half guard. Jim blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kamazs. Kamazs trying to control from half guard but Jim is working away. Kamazs seems to be working for a kimura but Jim defends the submission attempt. Kamazs frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kamazs thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Kamazs wants to control the pace but Jim is squirming around nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jim tries to lock up and control but Kamazs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Kamazs prevents Jim from getting the reversal. Kamazs is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jim is surviving well by controlling Kamazs's body position as best he can. Poor strikes thrown by Kamazs there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Jim tries to reverse the position but Kamazs maintains control. Kamazs has control of Jim's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jim regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kamazs thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jim can do anything to dispel that myth. Kamazs is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jim has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kamazs prevents Jim from getting the reversal. Kamazs punching from mount but Jim doing a good job of avoiding damage. Kamazs can't control as he wanted to and Jim manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Kamazs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kamazs is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jim is looking to control Kamazs's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jim avoid being mounted? Kamazs throws a strike but Jim avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Kamazs won't allow Jim to sweep him here. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jim wants to sweep here but Kamazs controlling him for the moment.
We're going to have a standup here because Kazimirs Kamazs wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Kamazs shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Kamazs throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kamazs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kamazs closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jim to the mat! Jim manages to get full guard. Kamazs throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jim works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kamazs postures up in Jim's guard and throws a big left but Jim blocks it. Kamazs postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jim is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kamazs, into his guard. Kamazs is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim lands a lovely overhand right. Kamazs moves into range and clinches up with Jim. Kamazs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jim avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Jim has Kamazs pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kamazs manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Jim keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kamazs's efforts to push away. Jim drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Kamazs looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jim lunges at Kamazs with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kamazs's hand. Kamazs takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Kamazs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jim sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kamazs somewhat. Sloppy strikes from Jim. Those never looked like landing. Kazimirs Kamazs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kamazs tries for a takedown but Jim sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jim!
