Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anupo Anubis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eugene Canedo!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anubis swats away the attempt to clinch by Canedo.
Canedo lands with a right hand.
It looks like Anupo Anubis has been cut.
Canedo throws a series of punches but Anubis avoids them all with ease.
Anubis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Canedo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Anubis is in Canedo's guard.
Anubis controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Canedo controls Anubis momentarily but Anubis frees himself.
Anubis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Canedo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Anubis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Anubis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Canedo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Anubis postures up in Canedo's guard and throws a big left but Canedo blocks it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Canedo misses with a low kick as Anubis jumps back.

Anubis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Canedo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Anubis misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Anubis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Canedo's face.
Canedo is in a horrible position here. Anubis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

and Anubis counters with a single leg into guard. Canedo didn't expect that.

Canedo is in trouble now - Anubis has advanced to mount!
Anubis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Canedo looks a forlorn figure.

Anubis dives in and grabs Canedo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Canedo pushes down on Anubis's head and hops out.

Anubis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Canedo was covering up waiting for the punch and Anubis finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Eugene Canedo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Canedo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Anubis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Anubis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Anubis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Canedo fails to land with a series of punches.
Anubis shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Canedo napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Anubis looks up at the clock and then as Canedo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Anubis smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Anubis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Anupo Anubis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anubis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
