PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chinkpanzee McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rollo Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGee comes into the arena with Angry Chinese Woman blaring out of the sound system. Larson has chosen The Streetbeater as his entrance music. Rollo Larson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chinkpanzee McGee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rollo Larson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larson lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Larson shoots in and drives through. McGee sprawls well.
Larson stuffs the takedown attempt from McGee. McGee gets slowly back to his feet.

Larson lands a head kick that stumbles McGee and the fighters go to the mat.


McGee is rocked!
McGee tries to strike from the bottom.
Oh McGee is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Larson wanted to stand there but McGee had control of the position.
Larson trying to control but McGee is working from the bottom.
Larson tries to stand but McGee is controlling from the bottom.
McGee might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McGee looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Larson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Larson tries to pass the half guard into mount. McGee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McGee seems to have got his legs back now.

Larson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Larson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McGee, pushing him back against the cage.
Larson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Larson prevents the takedown attempt.
McGee is breathing heavily.

Larson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

McGee drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Larson wants to stand but McGee is controlling the position.
McGee with a flurry of punches that miss.

Larson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
McGee drops down looking for an ankle pick but Larson pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chinkpanzee McGee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGee with a poor takedown
and Larson counters with a head kick. That will keep McGee thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
McGee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Larson circles away.

McGee shoots in and bounces Larson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Larson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Larson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Larson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McGee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McGee is looking to work some ground and pound but Larson has wrist control.
Larson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McGee trying to move into half guard but instead Larson has managed to sweep!
McGee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGee is on top in guard.
McGee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
McGee is looking to work some ground and pound but Larson has wrist control.
Larson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from McGee.
McGee throws and elbow that misses. Larson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McGee's guard. Nice move by Larson!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Larson won't allow McGee to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGee is working hard here to advance position.
Larson tries to stand but McGee is controlling from the bottom.
McGee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Larson is one step ahead there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Larson lands with an uppercut that bounces McGee off the cage and back into rage.

Larson moves into range and clinches up with McGee.
McGee goes for a takedown attempt but Larson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Larson! McGee is out on his feet! Larson rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - McGee is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! McGee is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rollo Larson!
