Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luciano KO!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
KO scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Gabriel Emelianenko has been cut.
Emelianenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Emelianenko doesn't manage to clinch there - KO circles away.
Emelianenko tries to score a power double leg takedown but KO sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Emelianenko somewhat.
KO tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Emelianenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.

KO throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Emelianenko was covering up waiting for the punch and KO finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Emelianenko has gone for a leg lock! KO slips out almost immediately though and dives into Emelianenko's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
KO throws and elbow that misses. Emelianenko uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in KO's guard. Nice move by Emelianenko!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
KO avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
KO bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Emelianenko's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as KO accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
KO tries to free his leg and advance position but Emelianenko is retaining full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Emelianenko has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Emelianenko keeps the fight on the outside.
Emelianenko wants to clinch up but KO keeps it at a distance.

KO shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Emelianenko manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
KO trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Emelianenko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and KO decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Emelianenko's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as KO accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

KO stands up from Emelianenko's guard - KO perhaps looking for a knockout.

and KO counters with a straight right hand.

KO takes the fight into the clinch.

Emelianenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

KO rushes Emelianenko and presses him up against the cage.

Emelianenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and KO has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Emelianenko has managed to get both his arms back between KO's legs - danger averted.

Luciano KO showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


KO throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

KO closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
KO is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Emelianenko reverses the position - he's now on top in KO's guard.

KO is looking to regain half guard here but Emelianenko keeps moving and retains side control.
Emelianenko is chipping away with strikes.
KO takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Emelianenko advances to mount.
KO is trying to escape the mount.
KO is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Emelianenko stands up from mount. Strange move.
KO misses with a head kick.

Emelianenko is looking to stall here but KO recovers full guard.

Luciano KO is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

KO ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. KO no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Well KO has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
