PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ely Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers comes into the arena with American Badass by Kid Rock blaring out of the sound system. Scott has chosen party up as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ely Scott!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Scott misses with a takedown
and Rogers makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Rogers misses with a looping left.

Scott changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rogers looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Scott is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rogers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Scott's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rogers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rogers is pushing down on Scott's leg trying to pass to half guard. Scott is fighting to maintain full guard but Rogers has managed to sneak the leg through.
Rogers not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogers thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rogers frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rogers tries to control but Scott wriggling away.
Rogers throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Rogers goes for an armbar but Scott turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Scott.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers pulls Scott in to control the position.
Scott is looking to work some ground and pound but Rogers has wrist control.
Rogers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Steve Rogers has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Scott closes the distance and clinches up with Rogers, looking for a takedown. Scott pushes Rogers against the cage but Rogers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rogers fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Rogers manages to capitalize on a mistake by Scott to take his back!

Scott escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rogers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rogers drops back looking for a leg! Scott is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scott manages to kick Rogers off! Rogers jumps back into Scott's guard.
Rogers throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Scott works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rogers trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Rogers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
