Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thad Alvies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis comes into the arena with I Couldn't Get High blaring out of the sound system. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Lewis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thad Alvies! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvies closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lewis struggling a bit here. Lewis is looking to regain half guard here but Alvies keeps moving and retains side control. Alvies working the head and body with strikes. You can see the frustration on Lewis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Lewis tries to bench press Alvies off him but Alvies keeps the position. Lewis holds on to Alvies's head and controls the position momentarily. Lewis is not content to let Alvies control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Alvies drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Alvies thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lewis working a defensive guard but Alvies manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis struggling a bit here. Lewis tries to buck Alvies off but Alvies is having none of it. Alvies working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Lewis is looking for a sweep. Alvies wants to stand but Lewis is controlling his arm.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lewis shoots in and bounces Alvies off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Lewis controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Lewis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Alvies looks gassed! Lewis trying to control but Alvies is working from the bottom. Lewis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvies on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lewis looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Lewis trying to control the position from guard on top but Alvies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alvies is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alvies had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lewis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Alvies Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lewis's back instead. Alvies doesn't have the hooks in and Lewis manages to turn into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvies looking for a sweep. Not yet Alvies, not yet. Alvies wants to stand but Lewis is controlling the position. Lewis looking to pass the guard. Alvies wants to stand up but Lewis is controlling him. Lewis sitting in guard here, content to control. Alvies wants to sweep here but Lewis controlling him for the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Alvies gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lewis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Alvies! Lewis won't let Alvies get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Alvies is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvies sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Lewis not doing much here.
Lewis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Lewis moves nicely into side control. Lewis controlling the position from side mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ray Lewis will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lewis checks a leg kick nicely. Excellent takedown into side control there by Lewis. Alvies is not content to let Lewis control the position. Alvies is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lewis off and has taken his back! Alvies gets his hands free as Lewis looks to control.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Ray Lewis just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Lewis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lewis instigates a clinch. Lewis is pressed up against the cage. Alvies has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lewis down to the mat. Lewis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lewis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Alvies regains half guard. Lewis wants to take a breather but Alvies is having none of it. Lewis trying to control the pace. Lewis is just content to waste time from the top position. Alvies takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvies wants to sweep but no luck. Lewis trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Alvies manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Lewis is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lewis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Alvies is looking to regain half guard here but Lewis keeps moving and retains side control. Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alvies keeps working. Alvies wants to control but Lewis postures up. Lewis controls the position from side control. Lewis swings around for an armbar but Alvies sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lewis's guard. Lewis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Alvies trying to control but Lewis is working from the bottom. Lewis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Alvies postures up.

Lewis is pressing down on Alvies's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Lewis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Alvies is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Alvies wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving. Alvies is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Alvies stopping the sweep attempt from Lewis. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lewis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Lewis is pressing down on Alvies's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alvies is holding on for now. Lewis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alvies defends it well. Lewis content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Very smooth. Ray Lewis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lewis throws an elbow but Alvies slips to the side and avoids it well. Lewis just content to control the position. Lewis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Alvies for as long as he can get away with. Alvies prevents Lewis from improving position.

Thad Alvies has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alvies keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Ray Lewis showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lewis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
