Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Atkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sid Wright!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atkins lands the left hand.
A telegraphed right hand from Atkins misses the target.
Wright keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wright missing with a left hand there. Atkins was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Atkins closes the distance and clinches.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Atkins for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Atkins manages to break the clinch.
Wright fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Atkins is out of range.
Atkins throws a sloppy head kick and Wright moves out of range easily.
Atkins connects with a nice looking jab.

Wright gets tackled into the cage by Atkins. Atkins maintains the clinch.

Atkins manages to break the clinch.
Atkins misses with a series of wild punches.
Atkins keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wright.

Atkins changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Atkins, as that shot connected.
A looping hook to the body misses from Atkins. Wright does a little dance to reset his feet.

Atkins ducks under a wild hook from Wright.
Atkins fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Wright checks it well.
Atkins misses with a double jab.
Wright throws a body punch but Atkins moves out of range.

Atkins slips a straight right by Wright.
Wright takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wright takes a jab right on the kisser.
A slow jab from Atkins misses its intended target.
Atkins throws a hook to the side of Wright's head but Wright sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Wright fails with the takedown.
Atkins changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Wright throws a jab when Atkins was well out of range.
The crowd cheers as Atkins lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wright doesn't seem phased though.
Wright circles away from the clinch attempt.
Atkins ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wright walks into a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Atkins tries to clinch there but Wright circles away.

Atkins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Atkins showed some decent athleticism there.

Atkins seems to be looking for submissions.

Wright looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Wright is looking for a sweep. Atkins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Atkins is looking to take a break and control but Wright is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Atkins thows a huge punch but Wright dodges it nicely.
Wright wants to get back to full guard.
Wright is trying to control but can't.
Wright is refusing to be controlled, as Atkins sits in half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Atkins is working for a kimura but Wright is defending it quite comfortably.
Wright has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Atkins is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wright actively working from the bottom here.
Atkins missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Wright regains full guard. Nicely done.
Atkins engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Atkins is looking to stand up but Wright won't let him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wright will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Wright controls Atkins momentarily but Atkins frees himself.

Atkins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Atkins swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Atkins swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Joe Atkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright slips under a jab from Atkins.
Wright uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Atkins.

Atkins closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Atkins lands in his opponent's guard.

Wright is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Atkins is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Atkins is looking to work some ground and pound but Wright has wrist control.
Wright is trying to keep Atkins in close.
Atkins throws a big right hand that misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wright has Atkins pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Atkins looking to sit in guard and control but Wright gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Atkins is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Atkins is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wright doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Atkins.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wright wants to improve his position but Atkins is controlling well.

Wright throws the left hand but Atkins avoids the punch easily.
Joe Atkins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wright's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Atkins connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wright scrambles back to his feet.

Atkins throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Atkins counters with a left to the body.

Atkins uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wright.

Wright is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Atkins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Atkins's back!
Joe Atkins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Atkins is trying to escape under a series of strikes and manages to escape from Wright 's hooks.
Atkins wants to hold on but Wright pushes him away.
Atkins is trying desperately to improve position.

Atkins tries to lock up and control but Wright gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Wright has control of Atkins's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Atkins regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Atkins tries to hold on but Wright postures up.

Wright moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Atkins has worked his arm free - good work by Atkins!

Wright looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Sid Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Wright is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Atkins is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Atkins has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
