Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jorge Santiago ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andy Carmichael! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carmichael avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Donk. Santiago catches Carmichael right on the button with a cross. Santiago throws the left hand but Carmichael avoids the punch easily. Santiago paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. No luck with that takedown attempt from Carmichael. Carmichael shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carmichael showed some decent athleticism there. Carmichael tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Santiago . Santiago tries to get to full guard but Carmichael has control of the leg. Carmichael trying to control from half guard but Santiago is working away. Carmichael thows a huge punch but Santiago dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carmichael missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Santiago moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Santiago is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carmichael is controlling him. Carmichael would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Santiago holds on and takes a little breather. Carmichael stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santiago swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carmichael looking to sit in guard and control but Santiago gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Santiago engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Carmichael is trying to keep Santiago in close.
Santiago is fighting to break Carmichael's control of his arms but Carmichael is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Santiago throws a big shot that misses. Nice cross by Carmichael. Santiago swings for the body but Carmichael moves out of range.
Santiago lands with a nice body punch. Santiago lands an overhand right. Santiago misses with a looping left. Carmichael drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carmichael prevents Santiago from getting back to his feet. Carmichael throws and elbow that misses. Santiago uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carmichael's guard. Nice move by Santiago ! Santiago wants to stand but Carmichael has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Santiago is breathing heavily. Santiago is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Santiago wants to stand but Carmichael is controlling his posture from full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Santiago preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jorge Santiago will probably get the nod. That's time! Santiago 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Santiago bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Carmichael shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Santiago sprawls well. Santiago wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carmichael gets slowly back to his feet. Santiago thows a left - swing and a miss! Horrible takedown by Carmichael or perhaps it was just good defense by Santiago which made him look bad. Santiago misses with a body shot.
Carmichael shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santiago as he avoids it easily. Jorge Santiago has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Carmichael. Carmichael throws a nice head kick!

Jab, jab by Santiago - just one landing. Carmichael shoots for a double leg takedown but Santiago sprawls well. He's pushed Carmichael's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Carmichael is breathing heavily. Santiago displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carmichael. Jorge Santiago is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. That's two minutes gone in the round. Santiago tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carmichael was well out of range. Poor timing from Santiago . Carmichael is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Santiago throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Santiago will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Santiago lands with a hook. Carmichael tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Carmichael scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Carmichael takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Santiago throws a body punch but Carmichael moves out of range. Santiago fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carmichael looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. A right-left combo lands from Santiago . Carmichael doesn't manage to clinch there - Santiago circles away.

and Carmichael finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Santiago looks to land a right hand but Carmichael moved out of range. Santiago misses with a wild combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santiago scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Carmichael doesn't seem bothered though. Santiago works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Santiago misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Santiago connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Carmichael's hands. Santiago loads up on a big right hand but Carmichael slips the punch. A thudding body kick lands there by Carmichael!

Carmichael lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Carmichael shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santiago 's guard. Carmichael wants to control from the top but Santiago keeps moving. Carmichael works over Santiago with some ground and pound from guard. Carmichael stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santiago swivels though and keeps the full guard. Santiago is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Carmichael. Carmichael looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Santiago is fending him off so far but Carmichael persists. Nope, Santiago circles away and we're back to standing. Santiago swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Santiago changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Santiago lands the left hand. Carmichael lands a head kick!
