The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redcap shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Keyes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Keyes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Redcap must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Keyes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Keyes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Redcap is just riding it out for now. Keyes eventually gives up the hold.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Redcap can do anything to dispel that myth.

Keyes thows a huge punch but Redcap dodges it nicely.
Keyes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Keyes wants to work for an arm triangle but Redcap is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Keyes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Redcap pushes Keyes off looking to stand but Keyes dives back in and keeps control.
Keyes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Redcap doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Keyes.
Redcap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Keyes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
