PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Francis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Long Man Choi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choi has chosen MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOUL as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Long Man Choi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Francis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Long Man Choi!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choi throws a right hand that Francis ducks under and follows up with a left that Francis also avoids with ease.
Francis throws a leg kick but Choi sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Francis shoots for a double leg takedown but Choi sprawls well. He's pushed Francis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Choi fails to land with a series of punches.
Choi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Choi drops Francis with a beautiful combination! Francis stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Choi is looking for the KO!


Francis is rocked!
Francis is breathing heavily.
Choi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Oh Francis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Choi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Francis circles away quickly and effectively.
Francis seems to have got his legs back now.
Long Man Choi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Francis dodges the punch combination from Choi.
Choi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Francis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Francis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Francis is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Choi has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Francis unloads with some shots from mount but Choi bucks and avoids them well.
Francis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Choi wants to control but Francis is having none of it.
Choi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Choi is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Francis avoids the attempt from Choi to control.
Choi holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Francis tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Choi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Francis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Choi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Francis kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Francis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Francis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Choi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Francis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Francis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Choi keeps working.

Francis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Choi's head.
Choi is trying to maintain the position but Francis is very close to passing his half guard.
Choi is staying active underneath Francis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Francis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Choi sprawls well initially but Francis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Francis misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Francis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Choi is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Choi is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Francis couldn't care less - he's delighted!
