Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dean Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilson Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dean Stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Wilson Waters!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Stevens lands a jab.
Stevens throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Stevens tries to clinch but Waters moves out of range.

Waters closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stevens to the mat! Stevens manages to get full guard.
Waters loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stevens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Waters is one step ahead there.
Stevens controlling Waters's posture.
Waters pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stevens is keeping the position for now.

Waters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stevens swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dean Stevens just wasn't active enough.
A good leg kick by Stevens.
Stevens throws a push kick but Waters slaps the foot to one side.
Stevens misses with a head kick.
Stevens throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Stevens fails in his attempt to clinch.
Stevens misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stevens throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Stevens tries to clinch up.
Waters shoots for a double leg takedown but Stevens sprawls well. He's pushed Waters's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Waters swats away the attempt to clinch by Stevens.

Stevens misses with an attempted mid kick.
Stevens displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Waters.
Stevens defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Waters.
Dean Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilson Waters.

Waters drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Stevens on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stevens tries to get out of the position.
Stevens has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Waters is in close to Stevens's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Waters missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Waters looking to sit in guard and control but Stevens gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Waters wants to sweep here but Stevens controlling him for the moment.

Stevens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Waters works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Stevens wants to control from the top but Waters keeps moving.
Waters is trying to keep Stevens in close.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Waters utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Waters looking for a guillotine here but Stevens defends easily.
Stevens working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Waters's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dean Stevens will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


That kick from Stevens tenderised Waters's leg. Waters is trying to keep his angry face on.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stevens, as that shot connected.

Stevens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stevens trying to control the position here.
Stevens avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stevens trying to keep a closed guard but Waters is proving a slippery customer.
Stevens wants to stand up but Waters is controlling him.
Waters postures up in Stevens's guard and throws a big left but Stevens blocks it.

Waters drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Waters jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Waters trying to control but Stevens is working from the bottom.
Stevens is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Waters dives into side control.
Waters misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Waters connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stevens some visible discomfort.
Waters is trying to ground and pound but Stevens uses the momentary lack of control by Waters to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stevens wants to control but Waters is keeping busy.
Nice strikes from Waters there.
Waters is keen to just control but Stevens is a slippery customer.
Stevens tries to get to full guard but Waters has control of the leg.
Waters throws a strike but Stevens avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Waters throws a strike but Stevens rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Waters pulls Stevens in to control the position.
Stevens wants to get up but he can't break Waters's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Waters looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Waters controls Stevens momentarily but Stevens frees himself.
Waters keeping full guard, as Stevens tries to pass.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stevens thows a big elbow that misses.
Waters wants to improve his position but instead Stevens has moved into half guard.
Waters moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Waters looking to control.
Stevens missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dean Stevens will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Waters dives in and grabs Stevens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stevens pushes down on Waters's head and hops out.
Stevens throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Waters on the side of the head.
Stevens goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Waters shoots in looking for a takedown. Stevens tries to sprawl out of it but Waters keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stevens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A jab lands there for Stevens.
Waters blocks a head kick by Stevens.
Stevens ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Waters moves away.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Waters checks a leg kick.
Waters defending well as Stevens loads up on a big left hand.
Stevens throws a good cross that connects.
Waters throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Waters uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stevens.
Stevens ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Waters moves away.
Waters tries to land a front kick but Stevens steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Stevens pivots, looking for a leg kick but Waters is out of range and Stevens settles back down.
Stevens fails in his attempt to clinch.
Waters moves away from the strike by Stevens.
Stevens moves in looking to clinch but Waters pushes him off.
Stevens throws out a leg kick but Waters moves out of range and Stevens only half commits.
Stevens jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Stevens tries to clinch there but Waters circles away.
Stevens tries a low kick but Waters avoids it.
Waters motions for Stevens to come forward. Waters throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Waters.
Dean Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilson Waters.
Waters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stevens as he avoids it easily.

Stevens rushes Waters and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Waters tries to pull guard but Stevens holds him up against the cage and eventually Waters drops back down to his feet.
Stevens taking a breather.
Stevens gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Waters.
Waters managing to block the knees to the body from Stevens.
Stevens using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Waters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Stevens lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Waters takes an elbow to the forehead.
Stevens tries to land knees in the clinch but Waters avoids the damage to the body.
Stevens lands an elbow just above Waters 's eye.
A right handed body shot lands from Stevens.
Stevens is trying to maintain a safe position but Waters gets an underhook and turns Stevens into the cage.
Stevens crunches a lovely knee into Waters's ribcage.
Waters tries to pull guard but Stevens holds him up against the cage and eventually Waters drops back down to his feet.
Waters has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stevens avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Stevens putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Waters in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Stevens lands a nice knee to the body.

Stevens has hold of one of Waters's legs. Waters is fighting the takedown attempt but Stevens gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stevens gets to his feet. Waters looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Waters has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Waters postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Waters looking to sit in guard and control but Stevens gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but Waters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wilson Waters has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stevens would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dean Stevens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Waters wants to sweep here but Stevens controlling him for the moment.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stevens, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
