Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sanja Rubjuk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel One! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! One looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Rubjuk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and One counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rubjuk! One looking to control but Rubjuk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. One wants to take Rubjuk's back here but Rubjuk is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Rubjuk is desperately trying to improve his position but One has a good base and remains in mount. One content just to control the position here. One is working for a guillotine from mount but Rubjuk frees his head quite easily.
One wants to control the pace but Rubjuk is squirming around nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubjuk is trying desperately to improve position. One wants to control the pace but Rubjuk is squirming around nicely. One controlling his opponent. One throws a wild left hand from mount and Rubjuk manages to wriggle his way back to half guard. Rubjuk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for One on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. One is keen to just control but Rubjuk is a slippery customer.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Daniel One hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. One closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. One shoots in but Rubjuk avoids the takedown attempt easily. One shoots in for a takedown and gets it. One passes to side control. One wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rubjuk, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. One tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rubjuk is pushing One's head away, looking to escape. One manages to hold on to the position though. One is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rubjuk knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. One stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubjuk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sloppy strikes from Rubjuk. Those never looked like landing. Danga de danga de dang - Rubjuk scores with a four punch combination! One shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Rubjuk is trying to escape back to his feet but One uses the scramble to pass into side control.
One in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Rubjuk is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
