Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Sagal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Brirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brirt has chosen womanizer as his entrance music. Matheus Sagal had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sagal forces Brirt back against the cage and clinches.
Sagal avoiding damage as Brirt throws knees to the body.
Sagal tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Brirt smiles and moves away.
Brirt has a takedown stuffed.
Brirt avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sagal lands with a slapping head kick.

It looks like Bob Brirt has been cut.
Sagal tries to clinch but Brirt moves out of range.

Brirt darts in and clinches Sagal up against the cage.
Brirt content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Sagal escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sagal lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Brirt clinches up with Sagal and pushes him back against the cage.
Sagal lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Brirt stops a takedown attempt from Sagal.

Brirt decides to pull guard.
Sagal tries to stand but Brirt is controlling from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sagal wants to clinch but Brirt slips to the side

and Brirt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Brirt.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brirt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sagal trying to keep a closed guard but Brirt is proving a slippery customer.
Brirt thows a big elbow that misses.
Sagal bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brirt's guard.
Sagal wants to control from the top but Brirt keeps moving.
Sagal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Brirt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sagal's guard.

Sagal has his foot on Brirt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brirt works his way back into a safe position though.

Sagal escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brirt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brirt gets to his feet. Sagal looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

No luck for Brirt with that takedown attempt.
Sagal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brirt tries to clinch but Sagal moves out of range.

Sagal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brirt as he avoids it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sagal lands a two punch combo.
Sagal dodges the punch combination from Brirt.
Sagal swats away the attempt to clinch by Brirt.
Brirt closes the distance but Sagal moves to the side
and Sagal cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Matheus Sagal will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Bob Brirt's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sagal fails in his attempt to clinch.
Brirt has his takedown stuffed
and Sagal counters with a nice low kick that buckles Brirt's knee momentarily.
Brirt scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

and Brirt counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Sagal works his way to full guard. Good work.
Brirt throwing strikes but missing.
Brirt postures up.
Brirt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sagal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sagal escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brirt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brirt decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sagal looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brirt is fending him off so far but Sagal persists. Nope, Brirt circles away and we're back to standing.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brirt is trying to stand.
Sagal tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Brirt wants to control but Sagal is having none of it.

Brirt is wriggling around trying to escape.
Brirt is bucking up trying to escape but Sagal cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That has opened up Bob Brirt's cut even more.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sagal is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Brirt can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The cut above Bob Brirt's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
