Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Pazzini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pazzini comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Matt Pazzini was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Cruz or perhaps it was just good defense by Pazzini which made him look bad.
Pazzini throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pazzini stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
Pazzini scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pazzini cracks Cruz with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Pazzini is putting a hurting on Cruz here, landing some big shots from side control.

Pazzini creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cruz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Cruz is not content to let Pazzini control the position.

Cruz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pazzini wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Pazzini wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cruz keeps working.
Pazzini lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Cruz down.

Pazzini throwing strikes but Cruz manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Pazzini manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cruz's best efforts.
Cruz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pazzini doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cruz.
Pazzini slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Pazzini had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cruz defends it easily.

Cruz is breathing heavily.
Pazzini working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cruz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pazzini is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pazzini is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pazzini bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cruz's guard.
Pazzini tries to free his leg and advance position but Cruz is retaining full guard.

Pazzini sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cruz's guard.
Cruz is not content to let Pazzini control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pazzini lands strikes from half guard.
Pazzini is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cruz defends it well.
Pazzini is controlling the pace.
Cruz is not content to let Pazzini control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pazzini lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Cruz quite badly. Cruz pulls Pazzini in close trying to recover. Pazzini postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Cruz on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Cruz doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Pazzini!
