7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giovani Gomes! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia tries to clinch up but Gomes circles away and keeps his distance. Garcia tries to clinch there but Gomes circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Garcia looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Garcia pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Garcia gets a takedown into half guard. Garcia is looking for a kimura here.
Gomes looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Garcia prevents Gomes from improving his position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Garcia throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gomes is looking for a sweep. Garcia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gomes is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Garcia scores with a couple of nice shots. Garcia is looking for a kimura here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gomes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garcia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Garcia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Garcia trying to control but Gomes is working from the bottom. Garcia drops back looking for a leg! Gomes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomes manages to kick Garcia off! Garcia jumps back into Gomes's guard. Garcia postures up in Gomes's guard and throws a big left but Gomes blocks it. Garcia won't allow Gomes to sweep him here. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gomes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Garcia actively working from the bottom here. Gomes wants to pass to mount but Garcia is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gomes passes the guard and advances to mount! Gomes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Garcia is trying to escape the mount.
Gomes moves to the back position. Gomes is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Garcia knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Garcia for a finish. Gomes looking for the choke but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garcia defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Gomes's arms.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Garcia's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gomes looking to break Garcia's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Garcia remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gomes will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Garcia covering up well under a barage of strikes. Garcia is in bad spot here.

Gomes is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Garcia has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Garcia breaks Gomes's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Garcia tries to free his leg and advance position but Gomes is retaining full guard. Garcia drops back looking for a leg! Gomes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gomes manages to kick Garcia off! Garcia jumps back into Gomes's guard. Gomes has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Garcia should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gomes has tightened it up now! Garcia should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
