Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sol Goldstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these fighters had to take extra time to make weight as they missed the initial 135lb limit. Sol Goldstein came in at 136.8 and James Ferreira came in at 137.2 but after the extra two hours, both guys managed to get with the one pound allowance. No doubt it will have affected them physically though, so let's see if that has an affect on the fight. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sol Goldstein! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Ferreira! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goldstein fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ferreira throws a leg kick but Goldstein checks it. Ferreira fakes the leg kick and cracks Goldstein in the body. Goldstein will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Goldstein fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sol Goldstein. That's going to take a lot out of him. Goldstein fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Goldstein is breathing heavily. Ferreira throws the kick towards the body but Goldstein avoids it.

Goldstein shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ferreira as he jumps to the side. Ferreira lands a nice looking body kick. A punch combination from Ferreira misses. Ferreira darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Nice sprawl there from Ferreira as Goldstein shoots in. Nice shot lands for Ferreira. Ferreira drops Goldstein with a left right combo! Ferreira follows him down to the ground into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferreira working the head with strikes. Oh Goldstein is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Ferreira staying calm. Ferreira lands a few punches from side control. Ferreira controlling from side mount. Ferreira really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goldstein. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. You can see the frustration on Goldstein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ferreira gets to mount! Goldstein was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Goldstein seems to have got his legs back now. Ferreira looking to control and managing it successfully. Ferreira's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ferreira prevents Goldstein from getting the reversal. Ferreira avoids the attempt from Goldstein to control. Goldstein is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Goldstein tries to hold on but Ferreira postures up. Ferreira looking to control but Goldstein is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Goldstein tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Ferreira dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ferreira keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Goldstein shoots in but no luck this time. A combination from Ferreira does no damage. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Goldstein. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Goldstein chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ferreira can pounce on him.
Goldstein staying out of range there. Goldstein feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Goldstein stopping the sweep attempt from Ferreira. Ferreira is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Goldstein postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ferreira is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Goldstein, into his guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Goldstein being controlled here, momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Goldstein is looking for a triangle here but Ferreira uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Ferreira just content to control the position. Goldstein is looking to reverse the position. Ferreira tries to score with some ground and pound. Goldstein controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Goldstein is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ferreira off and has taken his back! Goldstein is hanging on to Ferreira's back as he tries to escape.

Goldstein working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ferreira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ferreira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Goldstein being controlled here, momentarily. Goldstein looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ferreira is posturing up here but Goldstein has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ferreira tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ferreira has to tap! Slick submission there by Goldstein!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sol Goldstein! Sol Goldstein is the new bantamweight champion!
