Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Yizzle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Smith Appleson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yizzle cracks Appleson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Yizzle tries to close the distance and clinch but Appleson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Appleson fails in his attempt to clinch. No luck with that takedown attempt from Yizzle. Yizzle moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Yizzle fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Yizzle fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Yizzle misses with a takedown attempt - Appleson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Yizzle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Yizzle misses the shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yizzle connects with a crisp jab. Yizzle fails with a takedown attempt. Appleson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Appleson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yizzle. Yizzle lands with a nice combination. Appleson backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Smith Appleson has been cut. Yizzle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Appleson swivels and escapes. Appleson tries to close the distance and clinch but Yizzle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Yizzle looks to land a right hand but Appleson moved out of range. Yizzle looks for a takedown but Appleson sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yizzle is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Appleson. Yizzle misses the shot to the body. Yizzle fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Yizzle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Appleson tries to avoid it but Yizzle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Appleson to the ground. Appleson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A punch combination from Yizzle misses. Appleson is looking to clinch but Yizzle is avoiding it.

Yizzle has Appleson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Appleson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Yizzle wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Yizzle turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Yizzle working the ground and pound but Appleson is defending the strikes. Yizzle prevents Appleson from escaping the position. Appleson bucks up and tries to throw Yizzle off but instead Yizzle has got his back! A bit of a pause in the action here. Yizzle controlling the positon. Yizzle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Yizzle lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Appleson avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Appleson counters by moving into the clinch. Yizzle is pushing Appleson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Appleson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Yizzle wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Appleson tries to land knees in the clinch but Yizzle avoids the damage to the body. Yizzle letting Appleson take a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Yizzle wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Appleson has him pressed against the cage. Yizzle has Appleson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Appleson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Yizzle drops down looking for an ankle pick but Appleson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Yizzle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Appleson as he jumps to the side. Yizzle getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Appleson throws a jab when Yizzle was well out of range. Yizzle throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Appleson. Yizzle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Appleson as he avoids it easily. Nice sprawl there from Appleson as Yizzle shoots in. Yizzle doesn't manage to clinch there - Appleson circles away.
Appleson loads up on a big right hand but Yizzle slips the punch. Jay Yizzle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Yizzle closes the distance and clinches. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Appleson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Yizzle lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Yizzle throws a punch but it's blocked by Appleson. Yizzle changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Appleson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Smith Appleson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Smith Appleson's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Yizzle rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Appleson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Yizzle takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Yizzle goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Appleson connects with an inside leg kick. Yizzle shoots in looking for a takedown but Appleson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Yizzle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Appleson throws a jab but it's blocked by Yizzle. Yizzle misses with a double jab.
Yizzle shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Appleson is trying to defend but Yizzle finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Appleson pushes Yizzle off looking to stand but Yizzle dives back in and keeps control.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Yizzle controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yizzle trying to pass the guard but Appleson defending well. Yizzle is trying to control. Appleson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Appleson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Yizzle manages to move to mount!
Yizzle tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Appleson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Yizzle landing strikes from the mount and Appleson is in trouble! Jay Yizzle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Yizzle throws some wild stikes that Appleson manages to avoid easily.
