Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tima Bronko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Doringo Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bronko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bronko lands in his opponent's guard. Sanchez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Bronko has passed into side control.
Sanchez tries to improve position but can't. Bronko decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sanchez to his feet. Sanchez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bronko is trying to defend but Sanchez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bronko preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez is looking for a kimura but Bronko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sanchez to get the leverage. Bronko tries to roll over but Sanchez keeps him under control. Bronko blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sanchez. Bronko wants to control but Sanchez is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sanchez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bronko missing with punches from the bottom.
Bronko pushes Sanchez off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sanchez shoots and misses and Bronko counters with a single leg into guard. Sanchez didn't expect that. Sanchez looks gassed! Bronko wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving. Bronko is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sanchez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Sanchez wants to stand and escape but Bronko is having none of it. Bronko is looking to work some ground and pound but Sanchez has wrist control. Bronko tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanchez is retaining full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Bronko wants to get up but he can't break Sanchez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez looking to control.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Bronko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sanchez wants to control but Bronko postures up. Bronko working the ground and pound from side control. Bronko trying to control the position but Sanchez is working away. Sanchez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bronko connects with a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronko working the ground and pound. Sanchez is looking to reverse the position. Sanchez gets back to half guard. Bronko content to control rather than advance. Bronko working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tima Bronko dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Sanchez fails with the takedown and Bronko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sanchez's guard. Bronko throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Sanchez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bronko wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is keeping the position. Bronko throwing strikes but missing. Sanchez is breathing heavily. Sanchez keeping full guard, as Bronko tries to pass. Bronko stopping the sweep attempt from Sanchez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez controls Bronko momentarily but Bronko frees himself. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanchez is on top in guard.
Sanchez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bronko's guard. Bronko gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bronko is pulling down on Sanchez's head. It's preventing any offense from Sanchez, at least for the moment. Bronko wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Bronko keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bronko is on top in guard.
Bronko makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronko scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Sanchez is trying to keep Bronko in close.
Sanchez wants to sweep here but Bronko controlling him for the moment. Bronko trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Bronko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sanchez looking for a sweep. Not yet Sanchez, not yet. Sanchez keeping moving, preventing Bronko from controlling successfully. Bronko working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Bronko wants to stand but Sanchez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bronko stops Sanchez from standing up. Bronko has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bronko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tima Bronko dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Bronko throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sanchez. Bronko gets a takedown into half guard. Sanchez is trying to escape back to his feet but Bronko uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Sanchez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bronko asserts his dominance and retains side control. Sanchez on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronko trying to control the action but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Tima Bronko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Bronko cracks Sanchez with a big right hand but Sanchez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Sanchez tries to get back to half guard but can't. Bronko is trying to get an arm triangle but Sanchez is defending well. Sanchez is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Bronko stands up. Sanchez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Bronko. Sanchez has his takedown stuffed and Bronko counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sanchez! Bronko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Bronko lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronko controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez holds of for dear life. Sanchez is squirming around, avoiding Bronko's attempts to control the action. Sanchez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bronko trying to control from half guard but Sanchez is working away. Bronko controlling the action here. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tima Bronko. Bronko gets the takedown into side control. Doringo Sanchez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tima Bronko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Sanchez is looking to reverse the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Tima Bronko showed his dominance in that final round. Well Bronko has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
