Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lance Hawthorne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Hawthorne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darren Powell! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawthorne tries to keep at a distance but Powell has taken the fight into the clinch. Hawthorne is trying to break the clinch but Powell is controlling him. Powell looking for a takedown. Hawthorne fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Hawthorne tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Powell smiles and moves away.
Powell throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hawthorne tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Powell is in Hawthorne's guard. Powell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hawthorne has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Powell has managed to get both his arms back between Hawthorne's legs - danger averted. Powell lands a couple of elbows. Powell wants to control from the top but Hawthorne keeps moving. Hawthorne throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hawthorne had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Powell defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hawthorne looking for a guillotine here but Powell defends easily.

Powell tries to free his leg and advance position but Hawthorne is retaining full guard. Powell working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Powell sitting in guard here, content to control. Hawthorne throws his legs up looking for a submission but Powell uses it to pass to side control.
Powell staying calm. Powell lands some shots froms side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawthorne sneaks back into half guard. Hawthorne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Powell pulls his head out easily. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Powell content to control rather than advance. Powell wants to take a breather but Hawthorne is having none of it. Hawthorne looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Powell moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Hawthorne.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powell decides to stand back up. Powell steps back and let's Hawthorne get back to his feet. Powell moves into the clinch successfully.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lance Hawthorne. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hawthorne breaks from the clinch.
Hawthorne closes the distance but Powell moves to the side and Powell counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Powell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Hawthorne has his takedown stuffed and Powell counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Hawthorne is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Powell with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hawthorne looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Powell pushes past his half guard into mount! Powell controlling from the full mount. Powell wants to control the pace but Hawthorne is squirming around nicely. Powell in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Hawthorne in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hawthorne looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Hawthorne is in bad spot here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Darren Powell dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Powell is looking to clinch. Powell scores with a takedown into Hawthorne's guard. Powell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Powell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Hawthorne is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Powell has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hawthorne to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Powell is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hawthorne pulls down on the head and he's put Powell to sleep! This one is all over!
