Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Rudd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Gambler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rudd comes to the cage accompanied by Bob Marley - Get Up Stand Up. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Rudd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonny Gambler!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Gambler as Rudd shoots in.

Oooooh!!! Gambler has knocked Rudd down with a huge combo! Gambler steps away and waves a wobbly Rudd back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Rudd swinging wildly here.
No luck for Rudd with that takedown attempt.
Gambler throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gambler looks to score with a jab to the body but Rudd is just out of range.
Rudd shoots in for a takedown but Gambler shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Rudd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gambler misses with a hook.
Rudd slips under a jab from Gambler.
Gambler throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rudd counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gambler wants to get back to full guard.
Nice strikes from Rudd there.
Gambler looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rudd sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gambler defending well though.

Gambler looking for submissions off his back.

Rudd is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rudd thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Gambler to regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gambler can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rudd controls the pace.

Gambler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gambler can't keep his opponent in guard - Rudd advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Rudd seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gambler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rudd decides to stand and escape the position.
Gambler misses with a double jab

and Rudd counters with a takedown into side control.

Rudd is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gambler has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gambler is not content to let Rudd control the position.
Check out the look on Rudd's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Rudd in side control lands a decent elbow.
Rudd trying to control the action but Gambler is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rudd lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Rudd cracks Gambler with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Rudd is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gambler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gambler is being controlled here.
Rudd lands an elbow.

Rudd thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rudd controls the position.

Rudd has an Americana. Gambler didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Rudd is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rudd hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Chris Rudd!
