Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, killa joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

joe closes the distance and clinches.
joe drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jackson pulls his leg out and moves away.
joe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side.
A chopping leg kick lands by joe.

joe has managed to clinch.
Come on joe - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Jackson misses with a punch to the body.

Jackson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
joe stops Jackson from standing up.
joe controlling from the top position.
joe won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
joe wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Jackson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst joe is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. killa joe wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Jackson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Jackson closes the distance but joe moves to the side

and joe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson wants to stand and escape but joe is having none of it.
joe has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jackson is proving hard to escape from.
Jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
joe is looking to work some ground and pound but Jackson has wrist control.
joe won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.
Jackson keeping moving, preventing joe from controlling successfully.
Jackson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jackson looks gassed!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jackson is wriggling around but joe manages to pass to half guard.

joe is trying to work for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
Jackson is trying to stand.

joe working over Jackson with some ground and pound. Jackson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jackson pushes joe off looking to stand but joe dives back in and keeps control.
joe content to control rather than advance.

joe escapes and gets back to his feet.
joe scores with a body shot.

Jackson tries to sprawl but joe drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Jackson is looking to escape.

joe tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
joe trying to advance position but Jackson counters by regaining guard.

Jackson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
joe shoots in and drives through. Jackson sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for killa joe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson looks to clinch

so joe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jackson pushes joe off and scrambles back to his feet.

Jackson shoots in and bounces joe off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
joe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Horrible takedown by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by joe which made him look bad.

joe gets the takedown into side control.
Jackson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
joe slows the pace down.
Jackson is pushing joe's head away, looking to escape. joe manages to hold on to the position though.
joe postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
A lull in the action here.
joe looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Jackson is avoiding damage well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jackson sneaks out the side door and pushes joe away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
joe wants to clinch.

and joe holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
joe can't get the takedown.

joe has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jackson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
joe looking to hold on to the position here but Jackson rolls and ends up regaining guard.
joe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jackson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
joe throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. joe just stands there and leans against the cage.
joe goes for a takedown attempt but Jackson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but joe circles away quickly and effectively.
Jackson misses with a telegraphed body shot

and joe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

joe is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Jackson is trying to stand back up but joe is controlling him
killa joe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

joe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jackson pushes joe off and gets back to his feet.
Jackson darts in trying to clinch

and joe counters by moving into the clinch.
Jackson is trying to break free.
joe tries for a takedown but Jackson manages to get underhooks.

Jackson gets underhooks to prevent joe's takedown attempt.

Jackson stalling in the clinch but joe improves position.

Jackson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

joe wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
Jackson distracts joe with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

joe controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.

Jackson drops back, looking for a kneebar! joe looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. joe looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from joe!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


joe throws an overhand right that lands on Jackson's shoulder, as Jackson tries to avoid the shot.
joe shoots in looking for a takedown but Jackson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing joe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from joe. joe gets slowly back to his feet.
Jackson connects with a jab.


It looks like killa joe has been cut.
joe takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jackson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jackson tries to clinch

and joe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by joe.
joe has Jackson pressed against the cage, preventing Jackson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A body shot lands from Jackson.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jackson tightens his grip and picks joe up, before dumping him to the ground. joe manages to land in guard.
joe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground.
Jackson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
joe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
joe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.

joe wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling him.

Jackson postures up and lands a big shot to joe's brow.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

joe on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if joe tries to get out of the position.

joe is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jackson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Quinton Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jackson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

joe has Jackson pulled in close to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson is in close to joe's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jackson pushes down on joe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jackson thows a huge punch but joe dodges it nicely.
joe desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Jackson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
joe keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
joe is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jackson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jackson's back!

Quinton Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think joe has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
