The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bell throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Canterbury doesn't manage to clinch there - Bell circles away.
Bell misses with an uppercut. The fight stays on the outside here - Canterbury looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Canterbury. Bell scores with a jab to the head.
Bell scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Canterbury is looking to clinch but Bell is avoiding it.
The crowd cheers as Bell lands an impressive looking overhand right. Canterbury doesn't seem phased though. Canterbury lands a high kick!
An inside leg kick lands from Canterbury. Canterbury tries to close the distance and clinch but Bell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Bell scores with a hook. Bell lands with a straight right. Canterbury didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Thomas Canterbury has been cut. Bell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Canterbury throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bell scores with a jab to the body. Canterbury is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Bell tries to bum rush Canterbury with a series of wild strikes but Canterbury uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Canterbury wants to clinch up but Bell keeps it at a distance. A head kick misses from Canterbury. Canterbury takes one to the chin there. Bell's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Bell duly obliges. Nice cross by Bell. Bell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Canterbury on the wrong end of a nice hook. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bell scores with a hook to the body. Canterbury takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Bell connects with a body shot. Canterbury doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Bell scores with a nice right hand.
Bell fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Bell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Canterbury on the side of the head. Bell looks to land a combination but Canterbury avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Bell misses. Canterbury moves in looking to clinch but Bell pushes him off. Bell keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Bell darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Thomas Canterbury's cut is getting worse. Bell is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Canterbury had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Canterbury takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bell misses with a wild combination.
Bell shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Canterbury eats them both and turns towards Bell to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Canterbury is rocked! Canterbury gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Canterbury tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Bell is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Canterbury buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Canterbury!! Canterbury is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Bell throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Bell!
