Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rand James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garlin liddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rand James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Garlin liddle!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries to clinch but liddle is having none of it.

James closes the distance and pushes liddle back into the cage.

James lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
James is thwarting liddle's attempts to control the position.
James is taking a breather. liddle says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
liddle is trying to get back to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James prevents liddle from standing back up.
James not doing much here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
liddle misses with a wild combination.

James has taken the fight to the clinch.

James turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
liddle struggling a bit here.
James throws a strike aimed at the side of liddle's head but liddle avoids it well.
liddle tries to bench press James off him but James keeps the position.
James controlling from side mount.
liddle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but James wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
liddle can't do much from the bottom here.
liddle is letting James control him for a moment.
James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down liddle for as long as he can get away with.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ground and pound from James seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
liddle is trying to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if liddle can do anything to dispel that myth.
A lull in the action here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
liddle wants to improve his position but James is controlling well.
James controlling the action here.
liddle tries to roll over but James keeps him under control.
liddle pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
liddle is looking to control James's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can liddle avoid being mounted?
liddle looks gassed!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

James closes the distance and clinches.
liddle goes for a takedown in the clinch but James prevents it.

James gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, liddle regains guard.
James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James drops back looking for a leg! liddle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and liddle manages to kick James off! James jumps back into liddle's guard.
James's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rand James wasn't doing enough on the ground.
The crowd cheers as liddle lands an impressive looking overhand right. James doesn't seem phased though.
James takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

liddle looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Well, if liddle is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

liddle is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and James defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rand James dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



James scores with a takedown into liddle's guard.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but liddle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
James wants to control from the top but liddle keeps moving.
James tries to free his leg and advance position but liddle is retaining full guard.
James stops liddle from standing up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rand James wasn't doing enough on the ground.
James takes a jab right on the kisser.
liddle avoids a punch combination nicely.
James throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
liddle is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

James in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. liddle tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from James!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rand James!
