Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Horrace Norris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Leloup! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Norris scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. You can see the frustration on Leloup's face as Norris controls the position. Norris working the body and head with strikes. Leloup pushes Norris away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Norris gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Norris wants to control but Leloup is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sloppy strikes there by Norris. Leloup tries to buck Norris off but Norris is having none of it. Leloup manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's one minute gone in the round. Norris kicks off Leloup and gets to his feet. Norris shoots in but Leloup avoids the takedown attempt easily. Leloup throws a quick inside leg kick. Norris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leloup tries to avoid it but Norris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leloup to the ground. Leloup escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Leloup closes the distance and clinches up with Norris, looking for a takedown. Leloup pushes Norris against the cage but Norris circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Norris closes the distance and clinches up with Leloup, looking for a takedown. Norris pushes Leloup against the cage but Leloup circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Horrace Norris. That's going to take a lot out of him. Norris fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Norris has his takedown stuffed and Leloup counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Horrace Norris has been cut. Norris is breathing heavily. Leloup with a hook. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! BOOM! Leloup lands a beautiful left hook that drops Norris. Norris tries to recover but Leloup is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Norris lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
