PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Twardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Stull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stull is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Numb/Encore by Linkin Park & Jay-Z. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Twardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Stull!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Twardy wants to clinch up but Stull keeps it at a distance.

Stull clinches.
Stull tries to land knees in the clinch but Twardy avoids the damage to the body.
Twardy tries to score a body lock takedown but Stull shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Twardy gets underhooks to prevent Stull's takedown attempt.
Twardy keeps control of Stull as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Stull is fighting off a takedown attempt but Twardy is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Stull to the mat. Stull regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Twardy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Twardy prevents Stull from getting back to his feet.
Twardy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Twardy tries to free his leg and advance position but Stull is retaining full guard.

Stull wants to stand and escape but Twardy is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Twardy shoots in for a takedown but Stull shows good takedown defense.
Good leg kick by Stull there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Stull closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Twardy to the mat! Twardy manages to get full guard.
Stull trying to control the position from guard on top but Twardy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Twardy manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Twardy cracks Stull with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Twardy avoids the attempt from Stull to control.
Stull is in all sorts of trouble here.
Stull looks gassed!
Stull is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Stull is desperately trying to improve his position but Twardy has a good base and remains in mount.

Stull is in a horrible position here. Twardy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Stull decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Twardy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Stull decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Stull connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Twardy to the floor! Stull dives in looking for the finish!

Stull seems to be looking for submissions.
Stull is tying to control. Twardy wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Twardy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stull lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Twardy has control of Stull's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stull regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Twardy lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Stull working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Twardy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Twardy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Twardy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Stull's corner calls for a 1-2. Stull obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Twardy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Stull is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Twardy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Stull's back instead.

Stull finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.

Andrew Stull comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stull has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
