The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCousin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Charuto napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Charuto is trying to improve his position.
McCousin in side control, throwing shots but Charuto defends.
Charuto is looking to reverse the position.
Charuto is not content to let McCousin control the position.

McCousin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Charuto is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Charuto is looking for a sweep.
McCousin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Charuto's legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCousin advances nicely into full mount.

McCousin stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Charuto shoots and misses

and McCousin counters with a single leg into guard. Charuto didn't expect that.

McCousin stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Charuto is breathing heavily.

McCousin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
McCousin works his way into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McCousin has knee on belly and moves into mount.
McCousin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
I looks like McCousin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

McCousin looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
McCousin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Charuto is looking to escape.

McCousin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Charuto to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Charuto shrugs it off.

McCousin working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

McCousin controlling the position easily from mount.
Charuto is trying to escape the mount.
McCousin wants to control the pace but Charuto is squirming around nicely.
McCousin controlling from the full mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Charuto is looking to improve his position but McCousin isn't that keen on the idea.
McCousin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Charuto scores a takedown into full mount!

Charuto is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McCousin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McCousin!
McCousin passes into half guard.
McCousin is looking to take a break and control but Charuto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Charuto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
McCousin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
McCousin moves nicely into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McCousin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

McCousin tries for a kimura but Charuto is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCousin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

McCousin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Charuto has managed to escape the submission attempt.
McCousin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

McCousin throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Charuto has his hands clasped together but McCousin breaks the hold and Charuto is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by McCousin!
